Going Home Famous
ng>At home, a star is just one of the guysDuring a visit to Traverse City to be the grand marshal of the DTE Energy Cherry Royale Parade, Carter admits to writer Neal Rubin of DetNews.com that he’d “rather help build a float than wave from atop the back seat of a cherry red convertible.” There’s no doubt that despite his fame, Carter remains humble and keeps his feet to the ground.
That’s probably because of the teasing he gets from friends. He’s especially anxious about what will happen when that trusty cherry red convertible rolls by the parking lot of Thompson’s Pharmacy on Union Street, which is where he and his friends used to set up and watch the parade. Carter’s sure they’ll be there and he’s also sure that they’re up to something funny.
With his eco-friendly show “Red, Hot and Green” on HGTV, and two new upcoming series in the fall to premiere on HGTV and the DIY Network, and a show titled “Team Green” for another production company, Carter’s a busy guy. Despite his presence on television, Carter’s line of work keeps him grounded. ”Doing physical labor like we do, by no means do you feel like a celebrity,” he says. On that note, this celebrity keeps his fame right where it belongs.
