    About the Backus Museum
The Backus Museum is located in Fort Pierce, Florida. A.E Backus, for whom the museum is named, was the preeminent Florida landscape painter. It was his passion to capture the incredible beauty of the sate, which is now rapidly disappearing. The community is located on the Indian Rover Lagoon -  the most biologically diverse estuary in North America, and is also home to such world-renowned organizations as Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute and Smithsonian Institute Marine Station.  It is the museum’s desire to create an event that combines the best of what the community has to offer – the arts and the environment, hence, The Art of Living Green.
